Inflatable Sailboat

Inflatable rafts have long been used for freshwater fishing. The most common method of moving an inflatable raft from point A to point B has been the use of an outboard motor. This outboard motor, while definitely useful in the manner in which it can move the inflatable raft, has the negative effect of moving the raft in a rather noisily fashion. This invariably has the potential to scare away the aquatic life that the rafter rider is hunting, or more correctly, fishing. So what is the person riding the raft to do? The answer is rather simple: the person needs to replace the outboard motor with a sail!

When it comes to purchasing a sailboat, most people think of the sleek, majestic yachts that are presented in most magazines and televisions programs. This is expected as people will generally visualize an image that they are most familiar with instead of picturing peripheral images that they do not pay as close attention to. So, a great number of different types of sailboats that exist will not be the sailboats that people will think about when it comes to visualizing the image of the sailboat in people’s minds.

In that regard, the very cool inflatable sailboat is one that will not pop into people’s head when the word ‘sailboat’ is mentioned. This is s shame as the inflatable sailboat is a fairly cool type of sailboat that does not always get its just due as a fine sailboat that is accessible to one and all in terms of afford ability.

Inflatable sailboats are essentially mini-sailboats that anyone can purchase and these mini-sailboats can be used in any type of body of water from rivers to lakes. Granted, one will probably not wish to venture out in an inflatable sailboat one hundred miles out to sea. Unless, of course, one was originally on a larger boat that has sunk, but that is a given. It still doesn’t reduce the possibility that the inflatable sailboat will be eaten by a sea monster, but, oh well, you can’t have everything!

Inflatable sailboats essentially take the inflatable raft and add a sail to it. This allows for a fun variation on rafting that many people can enjoy. One does not have to shell out tens-of-thousands of dollars for a sailboat when one can convert a raft to an economy version of a sailboat. This is a cool idea and can be taken advantage of by all manner of hobbyist and water enthusiasts.

Sometimes the most fun things are under our nose and we do not even realize that they are there. In that regards, it is quite possible that something as fun as the inflatable sailboat is missed by those who could enjoy its hours of fun. Oh well, perhaps it doesn’t matter so much that many people know the inflatable sailboat exists as much as the right people know the inflatable sailboat exists! Or, more accurately, as long as all of us reading this know they exist!

Hi, I just read your article and I agree. I just purchased a 14 foot Seaeagle inflatable cat and find it as lots of potential. I have added a sunfish sail and mast/booms. changed the rudder and centerboard and the boat is very fast . It also fits in the stowage compartment of by motor home or in the back of by car. I fing that I can launch it any where. Bob
