Horses Used Equipment
When you first decide to raise horses, used equipment may be the most cost-effective way to begin your quest. New equipment can be quite expensive, and until you are sure that you are able to care for the horse properly, the cost may not be justified. What horse equipment can you find used?
Saddles and reins can be found used with little hassle. A new saddle can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars, so getting one used at a discount is one way to save money toward an already expensive hobby. Leader ropes can also be found used. Bridles and reins can be found used, as well.
Within the stables, you’ll need to be sure that all of the stalls are outfitted with troughs for food and water. These can most likely be purchased used from a farm or ranch where they either no longer raise horses or have recently upgraded and replaced their equipment. Mane and tail brushes, as well as coat brushes, can be purchased used from previous owners who have, again, either purchased new supplies or no longer have horses to care for.
Other used equipment can be purchased from any farm or ranch, regardless of whether or not they raise horses. You’ll need a pitchfork in order to clean out the stalls and spread fresh hay in them daily. This is required to maintain cleanliness for your horse’s environment. Even fencing materials can be purchased from other farms and ranches.
By beginning your horse raising adventure with used equipment, you’ll save yourself a lot of cash during your trial period that could be wasted if you determine that you are not cut out for horse care. Rather than spending thousands of dollars on new equipment, spend a little time searching out good used equipment to care for your horses.
