Horses Ranch
Of all the places where you can enjoy the company of horses, ranches and stables are the best locations to visit the gorgeous beasts. A ranch is a tightly run operation where horses are well cared for and kept. What, though, is involved in horse ranching?
First of all, each horse boarded at the ranch should have its own stall within the stable. It is much like a kennel, where each dog has its own dog run. Inside the stable horses should have access to water and, for those that are stall fed, a trough for food. If the horses are grazers, then there should not be food in the stall on a regular basis. Each stall should be freshly lined with hay daily to provide an insulated, comfortable place for the horse to rest.
On a ranch, horses should be allowed out of the stables into a corral or field for exercise. If there is not ample room for the horses to run in the fields, the ranchers should take time out to exercise the horses themselves, walking them around the corral at a brisk pace to make sure they stay fit and healthy. Horses require regular brushings to keep their coat, mane, and tails shiny and smooth, and shoes need to be checked regularly. All horses should be monitored closely for illness, as these animals are very prone to disease, even when owners and ranchers maintain proper health regimens.
Other responsibilities on horse ranches include breaking and training of horses. Some ranchers rope wild horses, and ranch hands spend hours breaking them to create either work horses or horses meant for riding. Others will help horse owners train their horses to obey commands so that the owner can get a better handle on his or her horse.
