Horses Farm
When many people think about the history of horses, farm work still comes to mind. Although horses are still used for this purpose on occasion, most farms now employ machinery to accomplish the same work more quickly and with less strain on horses. You may wonder, then, what the purpose is of keeping horses on farms today.
On some small farms, horses still pull farm equipment that will sow seeds or even harvest the fields. However, horses on a farm have become profitable as a form of entertainment. People who enjoy horses but don’t want the responsibility of owning one can visit a farm or ranch and rent a horse to ride for a few hours or even a day. Farms have also begun to stable horses for owners who wanted the convenience of having their own horse to ride whenever they please but do not have the facilities in which to keep the horse.
Another profitable industry in which farms have begun to dabble is the horse racing circuit. Once a farm has a few champion breeds that are great racers, they can breed the horses and produce more thoroughbreds for racing. Those who own and train racehorses will pay quite a bit of money for these horses.
Farms where horses are raised also participate in horse shows. A beauty that is not viable for the racing circuit can certainly still be a show horse. With proper breeding and training, farms can produce several show horses, and prizes can include large sums of money that will help to fund the farm.
Because horses can be so profitable for a farm, you can be sure that the horses are well cared for in these facilities. Stables and stalls will be large and clean, and the horses will be kept in great shape and health, with lots of exercise and frequent check-ups from a veterinarian.
